John Bellany
Born in Port Seton, Scotland John Bellany was surrounded in his
upbringing by the images he lovingly and brilliantly reproduces today
from his family's trades of Boat builders and Fishermen.
Many of Bellany's paintings contain the Fishing community be it by
oil paintings of harbour's with large Fishing boats moored up, or
by the trademark portraits of the Fishing community people, all with
red noses and flushed cheeks from the harshness of the environment
that they work in.
Today Bellany is recognised as one of the greatest Scottish Painters
of the Modern era, he was awarded the C.B.E. and his works can be
seen in some of the Worlds greatest collections including The Museum
of Modern Art, New York, The Metropolitan Museum, New York and The
Tate Gallery, Britain.
